If you've been advised to restrict potassium intake because you have kidney disease and are at risk of a high blood potassium or you wish to increase intake to lower high blood pressure, this app can help you.
Set your target daily potassium intake based on the information provided in the app derived from the USDA and US HHS Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 or as advised by your healthcare provider. You can change this target at any time.
Record the foods & drinks and amounts you consume using the barcode scanner, speech recognition, by favoriting foods, or using Search and using the serving sizes provided, which can be changed at any time. Your progress towards your target daily intake will be shown on the dashboard in real-time.
You can also view your progress over time on the Month view dashboard, and export food diaries and potassium intake into a spreadsheet for your own information or to share with healthcare providers.
The app’s 328-item curated food and beverage database shows all 312 plant-based foods in green type to help users consume the 30+ different types of plants per week recommended by experts for a healthy gut microbiome. Users can also add their own foods and recipes.
All data can be synchronized with other First Line Medical Communication Ltd nutrient counter apps on your iPhones and iPads.
Apple's HealthKit functionality is integrated in the app's user interface so you can share your data with Apple's Health app.
Also useful nutritional information via the Info tab.

Helpful

This app is helpful keeping track of potassium intake however it would be nice if there is a place to add notes to help keep track of symptoms

Many thanks for your feedback and we're very pleased you find the app helpful. We like your request for a symptom tracker within the app and will investigate the best way to do this. It will be included in a free update soon.

Difficult but helpful

It’s not a quick and easy app. To add coffee you say add new food. Enter coffee in name and if you google potassium in coffee, it’ll tell you the amount. About 49 mg per 100 mig of coffee. Most people will drink by the cup so 1 c. And so on. The interface could be easier.

I’d like to see them add a goal intake. My mom has renal trouble and needs her intake below 2000 per day. I should be able to set this do she sees in red when she goes over. Or at least the line would be lower. This would be a great feature.

Since this is the only app I’ve found, I’ll try to work with this. But I’m dealing with an 80 year old and hoping it’s not too difficult to teach her.

We have now added in a barcode scanner, but the United States and Canada are the only countries requiring manufacturers to provide potassium content in the Nutrition label, so the data may not be available elsewhere in the world using the barcode. This is why we also provide a 325+ database of unbranded foods and beverages so that users in countries other than the United States or Canada can find a best fit. We constantly improve the app as new technologies evolve and new information becomes available. Once you have bought the app, you get free upgrades, you are not required to register, your data are not collected, additional payments are not required and there is no advertising. We also include App Previews on the App Store to provide guidance on how to use the Settings tab to set your desired target daily intake, preferred units for weights (g or ounces) and for amounts of nutrient (in terms of weight or % daily target) per serving and per weight unit, and how to record your intake by dictation, search and favoriting. This guidance is also provided in the "How to use the app" instructions included with the app.
